The Tickle Me Elmo TMX--A Review

Welcome to my Tickle Me Elmo TMX review. In 1996, the very first Tickle Me Elmo doll was introduced to the world. Ten years later, the Fisher-Price Tickle Me Elmo TMX was introduced (the X stands for the Roman numeral 10). It was a closely guarded secret right up to the moment it was revealed on Good Morning America. Once it was revealed, the TMX Elmo became a smash sensation of that year's holiday season, racking up millions of orders and sending retailers scrambling to fill the demand. Now, three years after its introduction, the Elmo TMX 10th anniversary doll is still a big seller and a popular present at Christmas time.

The TMX Elmo doll looks like any other stuffed toy, and appears very much like the original doll. He's 15 inches tall and covered in soft red fur, just like his Sesame Street counterpart. He isn't plush and cuddly, though. In fact, he's a bit hard under all that fur. That's okay, though, because he's much more than just a plush toy to cuddle with. He's meant for tickling!

This Tickle Me Elmo TMX doll gets crazier and crazier the more you tickle him. Each tickle results in more hysterics from the little guy. He'll produce a wide variety of impressive moves in response to your tickling, including falling on his side, squirming on his back, and laying on his stomach while slapping at the floor. He has a built-in voice box that adds to the fun, since you can actually hear him laugh as you poke and prod him into a fit of squirming giggles. If you keep going, he'll eventually tell you he's had too much. How's that for interactivity?

This doll requires six AA batteries to operate, and they're included when you buy little Elmo. You may find that your child gets such a kick out of him, though, that the batteries are worn down quickly. Fortunately, there's an on and off switch attached to him, so you can stop the laughter if it gets to be too much for YOU before it's too much for Elmo himself. If you experienced the original doll, you'll realize that this one is a super-charged version of the instant classic of a decade ago. This toy is a sure-fire winner that your pre-schooler or young elementary school student is sure to love, and you'll probably fall for his red, furry charms, too. After all, who out there doesn't just love Elmo?
